        34th Annual White Breakfast Fundraiser
                           December 7, 2024 9:30 AM

The Bennett College Alumnae of Durham celebrated its 34th Annual White Breakfast Fundraiser at Doubletree Raleigh Durham Reserarch Triancle Park Hotel, 4810 Page Creek Lane, Durham, NC 27703, with many community residents and leaders in attendance.  It was a joyous occasion celebrating our 2024 honorees with special guests student Belle Jazmine Rawls and soloist Ms. Mary Moffitt.

Belle Rawls was selected to present Vice-President Kamala Harris at her Greensboro campaign rally in November 2024.  A video of her introduction was played as a tribute of her selection for this honor. Ms. Mary Moffit presented a rousing spiritual in honor of Rev. Dr. Sarah Springs, which was well received by guests.  Belle Hedy Echard '68 rendered a touching memorial to our missing Belles.  The guests responded with a moving gesture of ringing their bell favors in remembrance.

Guests enjoyed the presentations to our deserving honorees who served the Durham area community with their special talents and skills.  A well-appointed buffet was served and guests explored the "Winterland of Vendors" featuring Sweet Farms Syrups (Stacey Moore '11, owner); Lynette Johnson, Sustainable Arts; Wanda Fryar, Christmas wreaths; and Tonya Koonce-Daniels, Mary Kaye Consultant.

                                       HISTORY OF THE WHITE BREAKFAST
One of the earliest, and certainly the most everlasting tradition to be institutionalized at Bennett College was the White Breakfast. The tradition was established around 1930, when Dr. David Dallas Jones accepted the challenge of the presidency of the newly restructured Bennett College for Women. Dr. Jones and his wife, Mrs. Susie Jones, were determined to establish some lasting values and traditions.
